This richly illustrated publication marks the tenth anniversary of the Chinese European Art Center (CEAC) in Xiamen. The book is the rich manifestation of the dynamic art exchange which is brought to pass by the unremitting and indefatigable efforts of CEAC. From its beginning in 1999 the art centre got national attention in China due to its pioneering international program.

After the preliminary presentation of the book in Xiamen in November, it will be presented with some ceremony during the CEAC exhibition in the Dutch Culture Center at the World Expo 2010 in Shanghai.

In addition to a profusion of image material from the extensive photographic archives of Ineke Gudmundsson, the book includes work by over 70 resident artists such as Aam Solleveld, Amy Wong, Erik van Lieshout, Bas Princen, Hulya Yilmaz, Charlotte Schleiffert, Chen Wenling, Fahrettin Öhrenli, Gerald van der Kaap, Folkert de Jong, Rineke Dijkstra, Gu Yue, Hartmut Wilkening, Huang Yan, Paul Kooiker, JCJ Vanderheijden, Lara Schnitger, Matthew Monahan, Liu Manwen, Meiya Lin, Roosje Klap/Kaleb de Groot, Kan Xuan, Persijn Broersen/Margit Lukács, Pieter Holstein, Teun Hocks, Sylvie Zijlmans/Hewald Jongenelis, Xiang Jin, Vroegop/Schoonveld, Tom Claassen, Sigurdur Gudmundsson, Cecile van de Heijden, Zhifei Yang, Ma Leonn, Jean Bernard Koeman, Nick Renshaw, Jennifer Tee, Jonas Ohlsson, Wang Qiang, Xu Huijing, Femke Schaap/Sjerk Timmer, Yang Jian and many others.
New viewpoints have been contributed by authors like Huang Yong Ping, Carol Yinghua Lu, Garrie van Pinxteren, Allard Schröder, Rashid Novaire, Sigurdur Gudmundsson, Leonard Blussé and Qin Jian.

CEAC

The art centre was established in Xiamen, a city on the south-eastern subtropical coast of China, by Ineke Gudmundsson of the Netherlands in cooperation with Qin Jian, professor at/of the Art College in Xiamen. The object was to initiate an artistic exchange between countries. In the past ten years, CEAC has seen a whizzing development. With its ample opportunities for artists in residence (artists, architects, composers and writers, for example), the centre hosts a diversity of activities.
