Original tan decorated cloth. A US first edition, first impression. 2000 copies printed of which approximately 1000 sets of unbound sheets were destroyed by fire. The author's first book. Scarce thus.
The Wrapper: No wrapper.
The Book : The book is sound and tight. The front and back boards are solid and sound, showing gentle soiling to the front board and slight flecking to the back board. The lettering and design on the front board are bright and bold. The spine is bright. The spine is inconsequentially bruised at the top and bottom and is creased along its length. The pages are clean and without foxing. The uncut closed page edges show occasional spotting. The binding is tight - no cracked hinges. There is an ownership inscription ( dated 1937 ) on the ffep. A nice copy of an uncommon title.
