The text of this edition has been prepared from that of the first English translation, printed by Isaac Jaggard for Matthew Lownes in 1625. The wood engravings have been re-cut by R.J. Beedham and E. Joyce Francis from those in the edition printed by The Brothers Gregorii at Venice in 1492. Two volumes. Half bound in blue leather over plain cream boards. Gilt lettering on spine. TEG. One of 300 sets for sale - this is set number 200. The books are square, bright and tight. There are no previous ownership inscriptions. The boards are a little soiled. The corners are sharp. The pages and closed page edges are clean and bright. The text block is lightly fresh. The binding is tight - no cracked hinges. An attractive set.
