A UK first edition, INSCRIBED on the ffep by the author's sister - the noted folklorist Katharine Briggs - to Ronald Searle's wife, Kaye Webb.
WRAPPER : The wrapper on this copy is bright, clean and complete. It is unclipped, but has a 5/- sticker over the printed price on the front flap. The wrapper is unfaded, showing slight wear to the edges. There is a slither of loss to the head of the spine. Looks sharp in protective plastic.
BOOK : The book is square and tight. The boards are clean. The corners are sharp. The spine ends are gently bruised and the tips are faded. The pages are clean. No foxing. The closed page edges are sound, if just a little dulled. No dog-eared pages. The binding is solid - no cracked hinges. There are no ownership inscriptions. INSCRIBED by the author's sister. A nice copy in a protected wrapper.
