An INSCRIBED and SIGNED UK first edition. Illustrated by Francis Rose. Inscribed to the half title page : With love to Mary from Federica and Francis ( ie. from Carrington and her husband the illustrator, Sir Francis Rose ). Rose has also added a charming illustration of a mouse. The book is further SIGNED to the title page.
Wrapper : The wrapper on this copy is unfaded and complete. It is unclipped. The spine and both panels show light soiling. The spine ends are lightly scuffed and there is a small (2cm) closed tear running down from the upper spine corner of the back panel.
Book : The book is square and tight. The boards are clean and unfaded. The corners are sharp. The spine ends are gently bruised. The pages are clean. No foxing. The text block and closed page edges are lightly toned. There are no loose or dog-eared pages. The binding is solid and without cracked hinges. There are no previous ownership inscriptions.
