Foreword by Laurence Alma Tadema. Illustrated by Charles Robinson. Undated, but circa 1930. Unsure of edition. Yellow cloth spine, pictorial front board. 208pp. Illustrated throughout, including 8 colour plates. In the rare dustwrapper - uncommon thus.
WRAPPER : The fragile and very elusive wrapper on this copy is tired and worn. It is unclipped. The front panel shows chipping at the top and leading edges and creasing at the bottom. It is unfaded. There is significant loss to the rear panel - see photo. The spine is unfaded and bright, showing rubbing to the spine ends. Still looks acceptable in protective plastic.
BOOK : The book is square and tight. There are no previous ownership inscriptions. Because of the wrapper, the boards have retained their brightness. There is light bruising to the corners and spine ends. The pages are very clean. No foxing, no dog-eared pages. The closed page edges are fresh. The binding is solid - no cracked hinges. Well preserved.
